SAN DIEGO -- Boardwalk Development has been selected as the exclusive leasing agent by Regency Centers for its newest San Diego acquisition, Uptown District, in Hillcrest, and will be tasked with finding two restaurant anchors along University Avenue.
Anchored by top-performing Ralphs and Trader Joe’s, the 148,638 square-foot-center is the only grocery-anchored shopping center in this urban infill neighborhood.
"Uptown District is a vital asset to one of San Diego's most densely populated trade areas. We believe our investment and rethinking of this 1980's visionary project will bring Hillcrest and San Diego a fantastic, urban shopping experience," said Gregg Sadowsky, senior vice president, senior market officer of Regency Centers.
Boardwalk Development vows to work closely with Regency Centers to reposition Uptown District, he said.
"One of the primary leasing objectives is to create a vibrant street scene along University Avenue. We are seeking two unique food and beverage operators that will ‘anchor’ the street presence on University Avenue and bring life to the existing courtyard, which is anticipated to become one of Hillcrest's most treasured and interesting public amenities,” said Ben Longwell of Boardwalk Development.
