It is official! Peet's Coffee & Tea will be taking over an approximately 1,391 s.f. space at the Rancho Bernardo Town Center, which is currently occupied by Starbuck's. The space also has a patio, which is expected to undergo a refreshing remodel. Peet's is scheduled to accept occupany of the space in October of this year and be open by early 2015. A new lease has been completed at Hillcrest Center keeping the shopping center at 100% occupancy. Oscar's Mexican Seafood has leased 1,050 square feet of retail space for five years in the 17,500-square foot Hillcrest Center at 646 University Avenue, San Diego 92103, from Southco Properties, LP.

The Kebab Shop has leased 2,100 square feet of retail space at 11980 Bernardo Plaza Drive, San Diego 92128, from Weikel Rancho Bernardo LP. The property was leased for 10 years at $1,040,002. The lessee was represented by Paul Ahern, of Location Matters Restaurant & Brokerage. The lessor was represented by Ben Longwell, of Boardwalk Development Inc. Boardwalk Development Corp. announced construction has begun on a 6,000-square-foot retail center on the corner of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Clairemont Drive in San Diego. The project was designed by Schuss Clark. The engineers include HTK, structural; NBR, mechanical; Practical Design Engineering, electrical; and Dan Reinhart, civil. John Hourian and Associates is the landscape architect. Though many "For Lease" signs still dot the streets and avenues of Rancho Bernardo's shopping downtown, tenants and developers are scoring deals that mean storefronts are starting to fill up again.
